The entrance to the crane is surprising. The cage ladders of the past have been replaced by two specially designed lifts. The first lift takes you to a platform between the legs. To your amazement. In the second lift, you zip up together to the living quarters of the crane. 'Beam me up, Scotty.'
In the former engine room, you will find a spacious double bed, seating comfort of Charles Eames, a double rain shower, and all the facilities needed for an extensive breakfast. Light, lift, and climate are controlled with a touchscreen.
From the main room, a small staircase leads to the cabin. There, you, in the crane driver's seat, with the help of the original joystick, rotate the crane 360° until the most beautiful view is found. From the control cabin, you have access to the crane's highest vantage point: the large rooftop terrace.

For decades, its silhouette has dominated the historical contours of Harlingen. The harbor top crane of the Figee brand was built in 1967. The crane was used until 1996 for unloading timber cargoes from Russia and Scandinavia. The cabin is located about seventeen meters above the quay, the boom reaches a height of 45 meters. For two years, a large team of enthusiasts lovingly worked on the restoration and conversion of the harbor crane.
The Harbor Crane of Harlingen is located at Willemshaven, which is undergoing development. This seaport was mainly used as a loading and unloading point for cargo ships until the 1960s, but is now a cozy place where there is plenty to experience. In addition to the harbor crane, you will also find a brewery, a fish restaurant, a radio lightship, the historic tugboat de Hollland, and the Witte Swaen, a replica of Willem Barentsz's ship.
